History

The Bosque County Jail in Meridian was built in 1895 by stonemason John Drew on the site of the county's original log jail. Constructed of limestone, it was one of the few surviving 19th-century stone buildings in Meridian and a good example of the small-county jails built across Texas in that era. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and removed from the register in 2014.
