History

Hog Branch Cemetery, also known as Stokes Cemetery, lies between Boyd and Azle in southern Wise County. A 2000 survey recorded about 81 marked graves plus some 30 anonymous crosses inscribed "Known Only to God," and burials include Civil War-era veterans from both the Confederate and Union sides.
