History

The Star of the Republic Museum at Washington-on-the-Brazos is the only Texas museum created specifically to collect and interpret the history of the Republic of Texas (1836-1846). Dedicated in 1970 and accredited by the American Alliance of Museums since 1972, it holds roughly 7,500 artifacts across two floors of exhibits on immigration, politics, military affairs, agriculture, and daily life. The museum reopened following a major renovation of the Washington-on-the-Brazos complex.
