About this tour

Every old town keeps a ghost story, and North Texas keeps more than its share. This driving loop strings together the Metroplex's most famous haunted places — a shuttered restaurant in an 1895 house, an iron truss bridge wrapped in folklore, a towering spa hotel under restoration, a restored opera house, a historic square, and the Fort Worth Stockyards — and tells each tale the way it should be told: as legend, set beside the real, documented history of the place. Where a story has no record behind it, we say so plainly; where the building itself has a remarkable past, that's the part worth lingering on. Several stops are private property or commercial attractions best viewed from outside, so keep to public ground, respect 'closed' and 'no trespassing' signs, and enjoy the drive for what it is: a tour of great old buildings with great old stories attached.
