History

This two-story cut-stone house in Salado was built about 1870 by John W. Vickrey, with rock walls roughly twenty inches thick, and was later purchased by William R. Berry. Stone salvaged from the residence was reportedly reused to build the Salado Bank. A companion carriage barn Vickrey built around 1870, notably upscale for its day, also stands on the property.
