History

The M. H. Denman Cabin was built in 1867 by Moses Hampton Denman at Sparta, about fifteen miles northwest of Salado in Bell County. Constructed of hand-hewn square cedar logs joined with wooden pegs and fitted with a native-stone fireplace, the cabin was later restored and moved several times before being placed in Salado. The Robert Denman family donated it to the Salado Historical Society, which maintains it as a stop on the community's historic landmarks tour.
