History
The Schroeder-Yturri House at 1040 East Commerce Street in San Antonio is a one-story masonry residence built around 1868, an excellent example of the transitional style between Greek Revival and Victorian sometimes called symmetrical Victorian. Constructed of cut caliche finished with stucco, its symmetrical five-bay main facade centers on a door flanked by six-over-six windows, with a front gallery of square chamfered columns and a dentilled frieze. Its earliest known owner, George Schroeder, lived there until 1910. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 14, 1975.
