History
Sandy Point Cemetery in Brazoria County stands on land that was once part of a sugar and cotton plantation and holds graves reaching back to the earliest days of Anglo Texas. Among those buried here are Francis Bingham and John W. Bradley, two of Stephen F. Austin's Old Three Hundred colonists, along with veterans of the Texas Revolution, the Mier Expedition, and the Civil War. The cemetery, whose earliest tombstone dates to 1852, received Historic Texas Cemetery designation in 2003, and a marker was dedicated in 2004.
