History
Sandy Point Cemetery sits on former sugar-and-cotton plantation land at the old farming community of Sandy Point, about seventeen miles northwest of Angleton in north-central Brazoria County. Its roughly ninety known burials include Francis Bingham and John W. Bradley, two of Stephen F. Austin's Old Three Hundred colonists, along with veterans of the Texas Revolution, the Mier Expedition, and the Civil War; the oldest surviving headstone dates to 1852. The Texas Historical Commission granted the cemetery Historic Texas Cemetery designation in 2003, and a marker was dedicated at the site in 2004.
