History

McFarlin Memorial Auditorium opened in 1926 as the third permanent building on the Southern Methodist University campus, financed by a gift from San Antonio businessman Robert M. McFarlin. Built to give the university a chapel and auditorium large enough for the entire student body, the proscenium-style theatre seats roughly 2,380 on three levels and has hosted many notable performers. It is listed on the National Register as part of SMU's historic Georgian Revival campus.
