History
Snider Hall at Southern Methodist University was built in the mid-1920s in the Georgian Revival style and named for Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Snider, who funded its construction and furnishings. Opened alongside Virginia Hall in 1926 as a men's dormitory, it carries an unusual polychrome relief of a foliage-festooned elephant above its south entrance; the two halls were combined into a single residence in a 1999 renovation. It was listed on the National Register in 1980 as part of SMU's historic campus.
