History
The Henry Beissner House at 2818 Ball Street in Galveston was the home of German immigrant Henry Beissner, Sr. (1837-1908), who arrived in Galveston in 1855 and built a liquor business. The three-story house was built in the Stick/Eastlake style with ornate wood trim resembling a Swiss chalet, with a period of significance of 1875-1899. The Galveston Historical Foundation purchased it in 1976 to save it from demolition, and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 3, 1978.
