History
The Meitzen House is one of the historic dwellings of the Houston Heights, the planned streetcar suburb founded in 1891 by Oscar Martin Carter's Omaha and South Texas Land Company northwest of downtown Houston. The Heights was self-governing from 1896 until Houston annexed it in 1918. The house is individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places through the 'Historic Resources of Houston Heights' multiple property submission.
