History
The James L. Jensen House is one of the many turn-of-the-century dwellings in the Houston Heights, an independent streetcar suburb founded in 1891 by Oscar Martin Carter's Omaha and South Texas Land Company. The Heights functioned as its own city from 1896 until Houston annexed it in 1918, and its surviving early homes were documented as a group in the 'Historic Resources of Houston Heights' National Register multiple property submission, under which this house is individually listed.
