History
John Cheevers came to the Houston area about 1829 and fought at the Battle of San Jacinto in Captain Thomas H. McIntire's company. He died in 1846 and is buried in Founders Memorial Cemetery, Houston's oldest burial ground, where a marker honors his service among other early founders and Texas Revolution veterans.
