Fielding G. Secrest served in Captain Henry W. Karnes's company of cavalry at the Battle of San Jacinto. He died in Houston in 1840, the year after his wife Eliza Sneed Secrest. The State of Texas placed a marker in 1936 in Houston's Fourth Ward.
