History

Old Pickton Cemetery is the original eastern section of the Pickton burial ground in southeastern Hopkins County. Pickton grew from a small 1870s settlement into a railroad station when the East Line and Red River Railroad was built in 1879, taking its name from the "Pick Town" chosen for the stop, and a post office opened in 1881. This older section holds the community's earliest graves.
