History

Dixon Cemetery, also known as Allen Cemetery, sits in a pasture off U.S. Highway 69 in the old Dixon community of Hunt County. Dixon grew up around 1880 as a shipping point on the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad, with a post office from 1881, two churches, and a school, but the settlement faded in the twentieth century and only a couple of marked graves remain at the cemetery.
