History

Wizard Wells Cemetery serves the small community of Wizard Wells in eastern Jack County, a town that grew up around mineral springs first developed in the 1870s by settler George Washington Vineyard. Originally platted as Vineyard in 1882, the health-resort town drew visitors seeking cures in its mineral waters and was renamed Wizard Wells after a 1915 petition to the legislature; the cemetery holds several hundred burials from the community and its surroundings.
