History

Postoak Cemetery serves the community of Postoak in north-central Jack County, which was established in 1878 and named for a large post oak that grew near its main street. A post office had opened there in 1876, and the village had a general store, blacksmith shop and church, long serving area farmers as a trade center with a population of around 100 through much of the twentieth century.
