History

The Runge City Cemetery is the municipal burial ground of Runge, a Karnes County town founded in 1887 after H. Runge and Company platted a townsite along the San Antonio & Aransas Pass Railroad. The cemetery land was given by H. Runge and Co. around 1886, and the town grew to be the largest in the county by 1890; the Runge Cemetery Association was organized in 1902 to maintain the grounds.
