History
Shiner Brethren Cemetery adjoins the Shiner Brethren Church in Lavaca County and reflects the Czech-Moravian Protestant families who settled the area. Established in 1890, its oldest grave is that of Katharina Elisabeth Koofman, who died on February 27 of that year, and the grounds hold more than 160 markers. Sometimes recorded as the Czech-Moravian or Moravian Brethren Cemetery, it received a Texas Historical Commission marker and Historic Texas Cemetery status in 2002.
