History

The Alley-Carlson House at 501 East Walker Street in Jefferson was built around 1851 by Daniel N. Alley, a founder of the town and a prominent early Marion County landowner. The house shows the central-hall plan and tetrastyle portico typical of Jefferson's antebellum residences and later belonged to Alley descendant Mary Carlson. It was listed on the National Register in 1969 and documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey.
