History

Known in early days as the General Rogers home and later as the Presbyterian Manse, this Jefferson residence is regarded as the oldest house in the town. Jefferson was a thriving Red River steamboat port in the mid-1800s, and the home is associated with James H. Rogers, whom Marion County sent as a delegate to the Texas Secession Convention. It stands among the many antebellum landmarks that give Jefferson its historic character.
