History

Macedonia Cemetery serves the historically African American community of Macedonia, about ten miles southwest of Jefferson in southwestern Marion County near the junction of Farm Roads 726 and 3001. The community was centered on its Baptist church and a school that in 1938 taught more than 200 Black students; by the 1960s Macedonia had dwindled to a church, this cemetery, and a few scattered homes.
