History

This cemetery lies within the community of Warlock in northwestern Marion County, about eighteen miles northwest of Jefferson. Originally called Ero, the settlement grew around a Port Bolivar Iron Ore Railroad station built in 1912 and became a historically African American community; its school served more than a hundred students in the 1930s before consolidating with Lassater in 1952. By the 1960s Warlock had contracted to a church and a few homes near this burial ground.
