History

Woodland Cemetery lies about ten miles north of Detroit in the northwestern quadrant of Red River County, on the Isaac Moore survey. An 1885 deed conveyed one acre at the Woodland school and church from John C. Perot to the Woodland Graveyard. The oldest marked grave, an infant daughter of the Fleming family, dates to 1873, and by 2004 the cemetery held some 783 documented burials.
