History
This ten-story hotel in downtown Abilene opened on March 21, 1927, financed by the locally organized Abilene Hotel Company, which raised more than $350,000 and invited Conrad N. Hilton to operate it. It was the second hotel to bear the Hilton name and stood as Abilene's tallest building for many years. Later renamed the Windsor Hotel, the building was renovated in the 1990s and survives; it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
