History
The Big Country Athletic Hall of Fame honors standout athletes and coaches from the nineteen-county region surrounding Abilene. It traces its roots to the AISD Hall of Fame founded in 1988, was reorganized in its current form in 2002, and received nonprofit status in 2009. Its inductees include members of the Pro and College Football Halls of Fame, Olympians, and professional athletes, with achievements displayed in a roughly 3,400-square-foot museum at the Mall of Abilene.
