History
This single-story masonry warehouse at Walnut and North First streets served the Horace O. Wooten Grocery Company, a wholesale grocery firm founded by Wooten on October 1, 1898. A 1911 fire destroyed much of the original building, which was rebuilt the following year. The Wooten company, along with the Radford and Ed S. Hughes firms, helped make Abilene a West Texas wholesale and distribution hub, and the warehouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
