History
Abilene's Federal Building was constructed in 1935-1936 as a U.S. Post Office and Court House using Treasury Department funds during the Great Depression. The Art Deco building was designed by local architect David S. Castle, working with San Antonio architect George Willis, and was built for about $267,500. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992 and remains in federal use.
