History

Cedar Hill Cemetery is one of four adjoining burial grounds that make up Abilene's municipal cemetery on Cottonwood Street. The city bought the twenty-acre Cedar Hill tract in 1920; the Cedar Hill Cemetery Association purchased it back in 1923, and the city resumed its care in 1934. Together the municipal cemeteries hold more than 26,000 graves, including many of Abilene's founders and pioneers.
