History

Old Union Cemetery is a historic Baptist community cemetery in Newton County in the piney woods of far East Texas. Land for the burial ground was donated in 1876 by W. A. Droddy, and those interred include descendants of John Newton, the Revolutionary War soldier for whom the county is named; a Texas historical marker was placed here in 1984.
