History

This stone residence stood on Officers' Row at Fort Concho, the frontier Army post founded in 1867 at the confluence of the North and South Concho rivers in present-day San Angelo. Such quarters housed the officers of the units garrisoned here, including the 4th Cavalry and the Buffalo Soldiers of the 10th Cavalry, during the fort's active years to 1889. The post is now a National Historic Landmark preserving roughly two dozen original and restored buildings.
