History

The E.H. Danner Museum of Telephony opened July 13, 1990, in an Officers' Quarters building at Fort Concho National Historic Landmark in San Angelo, named for former General Telephone Company president E.H. Danner. It displays more than 100 telephones and related equipment tracing the evolution of the telephone, originally assembled from Danner's personal collection. After Verizon acquired GTE, the company eventually gifted the museum to the city of San Angelo.
