History

The John Bremond Jr. House at Seventh and Guadalupe streets was completed in 1886 in the Second Empire style, with an ornate cast-iron wraparound porch and balcony and a crested mansard roof, and is considered the finest house in Austin's Bremond Block. The National Register district, home to the merchant-banker Bremond family, was listed in 1970; the house now serves as headquarters of the Texas Classroom Teachers Association.
