About this tour

Seguin is the only city in Texas named for a Tejano hero of the Revolution — and the town didn't just name itself after Juan Nepomuceno Seguín, it spent nearly a century and a half working out what that honor actually meant. This drive traces his story from the 1846 county-naming marker through his biography, his 1976 homecoming reburial, a segregated school built in his name, and the historic cemetery that holds the city's founding families. It's a short loop with a long, complicated arc: how a Revolutionary hero's name outlasted the man himself, and outlasted, too, the segregation his own community endured under it.
