History

The Monthalia African American Cemetery, historically called the Monthalia Negro Cemetery, is one of several segregated burial grounds serving the Monthalia community south of Gonzales, which also had Methodist, Catholic, and Lutheran cemeteries. It contains well over a hundred recorded graves of the area's Black families.
