History

Greenpond Cemetery serves the Green Pond community in southeastern Hopkins County, about nine miles southeast of Sulphur Springs. The settlement was begun by Robert S. Lanier in 1870, and a Baptist church was organized there in 1895. The cemetery's graves include nineteenth-century settlers and Confederate veterans, and it is cared for by a local cemetery association.
