History

Como Cemetery serves the town of Como on State Highway 11 southeast of Sulphur Springs. The surrounding area was first settled around 1846, when Ferdinand Carroll established a teamsters' camp on the Jefferson Road along East Caney Creek, and a store opened nearby in 1858. The cemetery's burials date from the mid-nineteenth century onward and document many of the community's pioneer families.
