History

Sherley Cemetery serves the Sherley community south of Sulphur Springs, an area first settled around 1870 and originally known as Barker Springs after a pioneer family. The community gained a post office named Frazier in 1887 and was renamed Sherley in 1889 when Andrew N. Smith became postmaster. By the 1930s Sherley supported two cemeteries and two churches.
