History

Arbala Cemetery is the enduring landmark of the Arbala farming community in southern Hopkins County, which by 1914 supported four general stores and about fifty residents. The village's post office closed in 1923, but its church, community center, and cemetery kept the settlement alive even as the population dwindled to around forty by 1990. The cemetery remains in use and documents several hundred burials from the area's pioneer families.
