History

Caviness Cemetery serves the small rural community of Caviness in north-central Lamar County, about eight miles from Paris on Farm Road 1499. The settlement was named for early resident Sidney Caviness, and by the 1930s the community of roughly fifty people included this cemetery. It remains a documented historic burial ground for the families of the Caviness area.
