History

Cedar Grove Cemetery is a historic burial ground west of Jefferson toward Ore City in Marion County, holding more than 400 recorded graves. It is one of the older cemeteries in Marion County, a heavily timbered East Texas county organized in 1860 with Jefferson—an important Civil War–era river port and Confederate supply depot—as its seat.
