History

Decker Cemetery is tied to the vanished farming community of Decker, which lay in south-central Nolan County and had a post office by 1892. The burial ground began on land first owned by Jees Everett and later by Robert Lanier, who gave the site for a cemetery. Older graves are marked with distinctive early headstones, and one of the first burials was oriented north-to-south at the occupant's request, still noticeable near the windmill.
