History
The Grey Mule Saloon dates to about 1890 and was one of several watering holes serving cowboys and soldiers in early Fort Stockton. In 1894 Sheriff A. J. Royal was buying and fortifying the building shortly before his assassination at the county courthouse; the structure later held a restaurant, bookstore and gift shop and now operates as a winery tasting room, a designated Texas Historic Landmark.
