History

Wrights Chapel Cemetery lies about three miles north of Deport near Mustang Creek in southwestern Red River County. The oldest known grave is that of Lovice R. Massey, who died in 1854 at age 16, and a stone for John W. Wright, whose family gave the cemetery its name, also stands here. A 1993 revisit brought the known count of graves to 24; the cemetery does not carry a Texas Historical Commission marker.
