History

Liberty Cemetery in southwestern Red River County was established in 1859, growing out of the Liberty Church and School. A deed that July conveyed land from Isaac Guest to the church and school, and a later 1910 deed transferred 1.25 acres of the J. C. Brown survey to the Liberty Cemetery. The oldest marked grave, Pollie Guest, dates to 1859, and about 158 burials had been documented by 2004.
