History

Bethel Cemetery in the southwestern quadrant of Red River County near Bogata grew from a Cumberland Presbyterian congregation. The church bought a plot from Sarah McClure in 1884 and added five acres from Ed L. McClure in 1900. The oldest marked grave is William Noel McClure, who died in 1875, and by 2004 the cemetery held some 533 documented burials.
