History
Built about 1920 at 242 Beech Street, this brown-brick house was the home of entrepreneur and philanthropist Horace O. Wooten, founder of the H. O. Wooten Wholesale Grocery Company. Its low-pitched roof with broad overhanging eaves gives the house Prairie Style overtones, and its one-story front porch has three round arches outlined in contrasting brick. The residence was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.
